Vraid: I missed that. I just know that when me and my brother were born our mother had to apply to get us removed from the church. Good to see that it was removed.

such as how every new-born child is automatically accepted into the church

This forced membership was removed in the year 2000. Since then, only children who are baptised automatically become members.

I agree that people should not try to "sell" you their beliefs. Just like I don't like it when people try to convert me to veganism and other stupidities. I choose how I live my life and what I believe in. It has been an informed decision, so just let me be!

I'm also scared of creationists and what they are actually trying to do to our society. Do I have to send my kids to a special school to make sure they are taught science and not creationism? Scary thought...

"Intelligent design" and creationism isn't really the same thing. ID is a sort of creationism, just the same way as a pony is a "sort of a horse".

Both ID and creationism are completely stupid IMHO, if you are interested you can start reading more here: http://www.geocities.com/lflank/

The person running the site is an author, and really know what he is talking about.

I don't mind people believing in things. Having faith is a good thing, but it should come from within. Sitting down with a bunch of holy scriptures is too reminiscent of going to the supermarket.

"Hmm, which religion do I feel like believing in today... oh, this looks coherent, let's do that!"

Faith is something personal. I think too many people just choose one of the existing beliefs rather than doing the difficult thing and finding what they themselves REALLY believe in.

Faith doesn't necessarily have to be about a god either, but that's something most religious people would strongly disagree with. What's so bad about having faith in oneself, or other people, or faith that we will be able to straighten up this badly misaligned world? Nooo, that's not "real" faith, because real faith only happens in a church or equal depending on religion of choice.

No, faith is a good thing. Religion though, is the opiate of the people. It's the burden and loss of ourselves that many people choose to carry, for reasons I don't understand.

Extremely well written. I agree on mostly everything. I have thought about religion pretty much and I have defined what it is I actually dont like about it. Itīs the organisation. I mean, I have nothing against peoples faith, what I donīt like is when it gets organised. For instance, there might be a god, we donīt know for sure. A god sitting somewhere outside our universe or outside our ability to percieve him/her in like the 8th dimension or similar.

It is every persons freedom to believe this or not, however, when it gets organised it gets perverted. Customs are introduced that contradicts reality as we know it, things that science disprove pretty easily. Why keep believing this stuff? And why keep believing the Bible so much? This is the part I donīt get. If there ever was a devil I think the faith itself, about the idea of god and goodness was the first thing that came, and might be true and the Bible and all organised religion that follows it are made up by the devil. Sort of =), not that I believe in the devil but if he existed it seems the bible and organised religion is bad enough to be his work.

And why push it on people?
