Whether that fuel is oil-based or not doesn't really matter. There are however several very large drawbacks to gas turbines in popular use, and fuel-consumption is definitely one of them. If I was to build a car, I'd probably try to make it run on a hydrogen fuel-cell. That technology isn't quite ready for mass-marketing yet, though.
