Dammit!

I remind myself every year that there is NOTHING that can be trusted on April 1st. Yet I often forget about this rule, and get all worked up over something. Afterwards I feel really stupid. Which I suppose is why I really dislike April 1st, since the “tradition” of April Fools has mutated into some kind of “make people feel really stupid”-tradition instead.
So yeah, I bought the thing about Cheese hook, line and sinker. Silly me.
Note to self: next year, don’t even turn on the freakin’ computer. Don’t answer the phone. Don’t read anything. Just sit in a corner and listen to music.
None the less, my opinions on software patents stand strong. I also don’t think it’s below Apple (or any corporation holding large amounts of patents) to try something just exactly like that.

Now, April 1st is no longer about jokes. It is about silly lies, more often intended to create emotional reactions than used for entertaining readers and viewers as originally intended. As mentioned in the previous post, I don’t like it at all. It is not humor (or atleast not very accessible humor), and it is not very useful. Cheese was a good example of what is bad with April 1st.
I can warmly recommend my own way of returning the joke/lie to where it came from: Run your own April fools joke aimed at whoever managed to trick you - but do it on a completely different day. For you, April fools day may be July 20th or November 1st. It is what I do, and nobody who have been tricked back half a year later has ever spoken to me on April 1st after that…

And that cheese story was not enough incredible to be an April 1st joke. It could actually have been that way. It´s like fooling someone saying “I ate sausage yesterday” “ok” “Hah, no I didn´t, april fools”
Like, duh.
