Holy Cow, I’m Making Money Off Of My Blog!

Posted by isecore on August 19th, 2008

Well, the thing that I doubted would ever happened, has in fact happened.

The backstory is that I’ve tried a buttload of different ways to monetize my blog. Since I’m not very good at SEO and all that crap, as well as not particularly talented at marketing myself these various schemes have so far amounted to a grand total of bupkus in revenue.

I’ve had ad-space for TLA since back in whenever (I can’t actually remember exactly) and this is also the second time I tried the simple TLA-style of selling links. I wasn’t too fond of Google Adsense.

So, I’ve had TLA-space up for sale for at least six or seven months, and nada interest. But the other day some yahoo bought a link - as you can see if you point your gaze slightly to the right. So now I’m making almost five US-bucks a month on this blog! It barely cover 1/10th of the electric bill per month for running my own server, but at least it proves me wrong on the theory that I would never make any profit on my blog.

Now the only problem I’m struggling with is whether I spend this money on a new yacht or a penthouse in New York. Decisions, decisions.

Good to read that your making money!
That gives me also hope, I just started (again…..) with my blog.

Just wanted to give you a tip: Save all that money for 100 years and then I’m sure you can buy a nice boat.
But then again, if you wait and save this money 200 years, you might even be able to sail to your new house!
    :-)
