Ubuntu 8.10 “Intrepid Ibex”

Posted by isecore on October 15th, 2008

Well, I’m getting stoked about the new Ubuntu release coming out the 30th. So stoked in fact that I’m kicking around the idea about upgrading to the current beta.

I probably won’t do it until it’s officially out, but it’s very tempting. It was a long time since I was this excited about software - not to mention an operating system! I think the last specific time I got stoked about an OS was when Windows 95 was in beta. I actually looked forward to that thing. Well, hindsight is 20/20. Since then I’ve lost interest in Windows and most anything Microsoft do, and become quite cynical towards proprietary software.

But it’s nice to be a part of Ubuntu and being excited about software again, rather than just seeing it as a pain in the ass to upgrade my system.

Me too is waiting for 8.10, I do hope they have fixed https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/59867 now, so that i can run it on my laptop. On my stationary it works great (been running beta for a couple weeks now) and this is a move in the right direction.
